Advanced technology offers specialized treatments

Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center’s 12-bed, Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is ready to provide care to infants born at 32 weeks’ gestation or later who have needs or conditions that require specialized medical attention.

The unit is equipped with advanced medical technology, with direct access to NICU from the labor rooms and operating rooms. Other accommodations include:

  • Breast pumps at each bedside
  • Privacy curtains and ample space for each patient and their family
  • 4 private rooms with noise control and isolation for our most sensitive patients
  • Overnight accommodations for parents prior to discharge
  • Specialized equipment (Giraffe Omnibed Carestation™) that serves as both an incubator and radiant warmer for infants
  • NicView™ cameras at every bedspace for live steaming of infants, as desired by parents

The specially trained staff includes pediatric hospitalists with a Level II NICU background, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapist, social workers, case managers and breast-feeding specialists.

Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center’s maternity unit includes spacious labor and delivery suites that are 100% private to promote healing and comfort. In addition, parents will have access to labor tubs and a concierge list of comforts. The unit will include cesarean surgical suites and comfortable postpartum suites with room-in features, allowing parents to stay with their baby in a homelike environment.
