Our Locations

Primary Care for All Ages

Family medicine physicians serve as the first point of contact when people have an undiagnosed illness or injury. They provide ongoing chronic disease control and prevention and help families stay healthy with preventive care. Our family physicians work to build a close relationship with every patient as they develop personal wellness and treatment plans.

The family medicine physicians at Northern Nevada Health System offer continuing, comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages. Our physicians offer a wide range of services, including:

  • Annual wellness visits
  • Vaccinations and immunizations
  • Chronic disease management
  • Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and problems, such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and more
  • Physicals (sports, general and DOT)
  • Smoking cessation
  • Workers’ compensation care (varies by provider)

We also provide follow-up care after an ER visit. If you were recently treated at an ER, your ER doctor may have recommended that you see your primary care doctor for follow up. This can help speed your recovery.

Annual Wellness Visit

During your annual wellness visit, or yearly exam, you and your doctor will update or create a personal healthcare plan specific for you. This is designed to prevent illness and keep you healthy. You and your doctor will review your current health and risk factors and develop a plan that’s right for you. Children especially need annual visits to ensure they are growing properly and getting their immunizations.

Preventive Medicine and Recommended Screenings

Being proactive about your health and keeping up with routine screenings is always a good idea. Don’t wait until you are sick to reach out for help. Getting your recommended screenings based on your sex and age can help detect disease early and increases your chances of survival.

Make sure you have the proper vaccinations, get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and complete the recommended cancer screenings. These include a mammogram for breast cancer and a colonoscopy for colorectal cancer. Talk to your doctor about the preventive tests and screenings recommended for your sex and age.
